Anthropology
July 2 – August 3, 2025 | Galerie Gaia (Seoul, South Korea)

Anthropology, Hryanskim's second solo exhibition at Galerie Gaia, explores the human condition through allegorical depictions of animals—metaphorical vessels that carry deeply personal and universal narratives. Each piece is infused with a fairytale-like whimsy, inviting viewers into layered stories both playful and profound.

This new body of work marks a stylistic departure from the artist's previous series. Eschewing the tight rendering and intensive planning that characterized earlier pieces, Hryanskim embraces a looser, more gestural brush technique. Each painting was created freehand and in the moment, resulting in a spontaneous and expressive collection. Many of the works contain traces of abandoned ideas and hidden imagery, giving them a sense of depth and discovery.

The works in Anthropology were created while the artist was living in Ljubljana, Slovenia, following the close of his 2023 exhibition Metonymy.

The exhibition also marks the release of Hryanskim’s first art book, Convergence.
